At the Lakeside Hotel, we are committed to fostering a sustainable future for our community, our guests, and the beautiful environment of Killaloe and the surrounding areas. As stewards of this unique lakeside setting, we aim to balance exceptional hospitality with a strong commitment to sustainability.

 

 

 

1.   Environmental Responsibility

 

Energy Efficiency:

-            Implement energy – saving practices, including energy efficient LED lighting, monitoring heating and cooling systems

-            Our Electricity is to be 100 % green

-            We will look soon renewable energy sources like solar panels if possible and monitor energy consumption to identify opportunities for reduction

-            Reduce energy waste by ensuring all unused appliances and lighting are turned off in unoccupied rooms and other areas in our hotel

-            Highly promote new launched charging stations for guests, visitors and local community to encourage low-emission transportation

 

Waste management:

-            Minimize waste by reducing, reusing and recycling materials

-            Best practices in waste management segregation in each hotel department and hotel rooms

-            Eliminate single – use plastic as much as possible in our operations and encourage guests to participate in waste reduction initiatives

 

Water Conservation:

-            Reduce water consumption through efficient fixtures and regular monitoring and leaks detecting

-            Protect the local waterways by using eco-friendly products and preventing pollutants from entering the Shannon River and nearby Lough Derg

 

2.       Supporting the local community

-            Partner with local suppliers to source food, beverages, and other products, promoting the local economy and reducing carbon footprints

-            Offer employment opportunities to residents and invest in staff training programs to enhance skills and career growth

-            Celebrate and promote local culture, heritage, and events to enrich the experience of our guests

 

3.       Sustainable Guest Experience

-            Provide guests with information on sustainability practices and encourage eco-friendly behaviour, such as reusing towels and paperless check-ins

-            Promote outdoor activities that showcase the natural beauty of Killaloe and surrounding such as hiking, cycling, and water sports, while ensuring these activities are environmentally respectful

 

4.       Biodiversity and Natural Habitats

-            Collaborate with local organizations to protect and preserve the biodiversity of the Shannon region

-            Maintain the hotel grounds in a way that supports native flora and fauna, creating a habitat- friendly environment

 

5.       Staff Training and Involvement

-            Train all staff on sustainable best practices and encourage their active participation in green initiatives

-            Organize team-building activities that focus on community service, like local clean-up events, tree planting and bees’ houses in our gardens

 

6.       Continuous Improvement

-            Regularly review and update our sustainability goals and practices to align with best practices and evolving standards

-            Engage with guests, staff and hotel owners to gather feedback and implement innovative solutions
